Life on My Acreage …

One week of acreage life  …  Dead turkey chick … dog with dead chicken in mouth … dead chick on driveway … mom accidentally kills a 6-week old kitten. 

Something an acreage owner feels odd saying to their guest: “Please excuse the dead chick on the driveway.”

Something a mom should never have to say to their child: “I’m sorry I killed the kitten.”

Something a child should never have to watch:  Her mom killing a kitten.  ♥

    What a heartwrench … for both of us. You brought back the memory of a little kitten I killed over 30 years ago. Grace was sleeping on the motor of the car. She always hid well to sleep. I rushed out for an evening class and drove a little ways down the street when I heard this terrible thunking noise. I drove back into the driveway and told my husband that something was wrong with the car. He looked under the car and told me the terrible news. That shouldn’t happen to anyone or any kitten.

    Barbara, crud, afer 30 years you still remember your experience vividly. I thought maybe my “vision” of it would go away eventually. :< it was a rough week.
